用途：
1.玻璃與玻璃纖維
　　在制造隔熱玻璃棉、紡織玻纖和硼硅玻璃（耐熱玻璃、電光源玻璃、玻璃燒器、***/化妝品的包裝瓶、中空微珠、光學鏡片、密封玻璃）等領域，硼砂作為提供B2O3的原料。當玻璃中的鈉硼比例需要控制時，它與硼酸組合作為提供鈉離子的原料。
　　玻璃中的B2O3有兩種功能：一是助熔劑，二是網絡形成體。它控制著玻璃的熔點和***終產品的性能。
　　玻璃棉中的B2O3有助于“纖維化”和提高玻纖的耐久性。硼硅酸鹽玻璃中的B2O3可降低玻璃的熱膨脹系數（因此可提供對抗熱震性），并改善耐化學性。
2.陶瓷和搪瓷釉料

　　硼砂是制造瓦楞紙粘結劑的成份之一，同時也是制造酷蛋白和糊精粘結劑的膠溶劑。硼砂通過交聯鍵羥基極大地改善了濕膠強度。
8.其它應用
　　硼砂作為金屬拉絲中潤滑劑的載體，在耐火材料中作為穩(wěn)定劑和骨架形成體，在冶金中作為包裹助熔劑，水泥和混凝土的緩凝劑、水系統中PH值緩沖劑、石蠟的乳化劑。
